Submitting Manuscripts to Alidade Press

Alidade Press strives to enhance understanding of the implications of complex systems research on military operations, innovation in future defense systems and defense-related hardware and the development of human capital in the security realm.  The Press’ primary vehicle to achieve this is to publish original works on complex systems research and military innovation and to re-publish classic works on the military arts that are out of print.

Alidade Press welcomes submissions of original work and recommendations for the republication of seminal work in these fields.  The Press is an imprint that uses on-demand printing to simplify and expedite bringing manuscripts to market.

Original Work.  The first step in the submission process is for authors to submit a summary of the manuscript to Alidade Press.  The summary should provide a synopsis of the work and explain its significance to military operations, defense innovation or human capital development.  Once the editors have determined their interest in the summary, authors will be invited to submit a manuscript.  It is expected that final manuscripts will be in the 50,000- to 70,000-word range, fully referenced and in MS-WORDÔ format.

Re-publication.  Proposals for previously published work should also be submitted in summary form, whether the proposals are by the author or by a third party interested in editing a new edition of a work that is out of print and in the public domain.

E-mail submission of summaries and manuscripts are strongly encouraged.  They should be addressed to editor@alidadepress.net.  Hardcopies should be addressed to Editor-in-Chief, Alidade Press, 31 Bridge St, Newport, RI 02840.  Hardcopy submissions should be accompanied by an electronic copy on CD.

Benefits of Publishing with Alidade Press

Alidade Press assumes the costs of publication and cover art design.  Authors keep 100% of the royalties (usually 20% of the cover price) and retain copyright.  Alidade Press regards its costs in these areas as investments in the field of complex system research and important to industry thought-leadership and corporate goodwill.

Alidade Press has an extensive outreach network in the defense community and will promote the books through this network.

Alidade Press will develop a community website for each book, complete with links to online bookstores and an online discussion group dedicated to their work.

Depending on market demand, Alidade Press will provide an opportunity for authors to conduct for-profit seminars on their work through the Alidade Institute.
